PSYCHIATRIST AND ARTIST

Christine D. Forest, M.D.

Evolving and incorporating my traditional skills of brush painting with the free strokes and flow of abstract painting I find myself moving away from clearly defined shapes, shifting the emphasis from shape to color and from pictorial to emotional.

Main themes of my art work

Painting the emotional signature of experiences and emotions: love, the sensation of being in flight, the irrepressible need for freedom of thought, the turmoil of opposing thoughts, the wonder of light, the energy of life.

How to experience my work

In abstract painting, you, the viewer, can add your own imagination and feelings to complete the image.  As an artist, I hope to provide a starting view point so that you can embrace and experience my work in ways that are positive and transformative for you.

What painting means to me

An act of exploration and freedom. It’s like visiting a really beautiful city, and you can’t wait to see what wonders await you just around the corner. You happily keep going and going, taking in all the sights, marvels, and flavors along the way.

My wish to the viewers

I intend my paintings to be open invitations for viewers to leave behind the routines and struggles of daily life and spend a few moments living with compassion and lovingkindness towards themselves and others.

“Experiencing art through experimentation, I discovered that abstract art offers infinite modalities of expression made possible by the endless versatility of modern acrylic paints and mediums.”
